Beautiful and Ride that is easy that in Spokane. New Asphalt past mile eight

The Fish Lake Trail is a somewhat brief, beautifully maintained path that is multi-use perfect for cycling. We strongly recommend it. It is the unofficial north area of the Columbia Plateau Trail. It begins in Spokane simply off western Sunset Blvd, nearby the intersection folks 195 and I-90. Re Search Bing maps for «Fish Lake Trailhead» also it will pop right up. Parking is abundant.

The path heads south and southwest in direction of Chaney, roughly following Spokane-Chaney path. The path crosses I-90 for a trestle, parallels US 195 for a tremendously distance that is short

Great path

Very nearly ten kilometers of paved path creates a great trip. The Fish Lake Trailhead during the north end has ample parking (with overflow parking available in the road), restrooms, and water fountains. Going south after that, the path carefully rises around 1600 ft on the ten kilometers (more or less 3% grade, an average of) which makes it a ride that is easy. The southern 50 % of it includes amazing scenery once the path turns eastern and follows the Cheney-Spokane path through the valley. It presently (June 2015) finishes in the end that is southern of Lucas Lake. I am looking forward to the BNSF that is remaining property be obtained together with path for connecting aided by the Columbia Plateau Trail.

Effortless trip, gorgeous path

A great path! All 10 kilometers are actually paved and open with mile markers. It really is a set and simple path with less individuals compared to Centennial Trail. The primary path mind is merely a mile from downtown with restrooms, water fountains and parking.

New Asphalt past mile eight.

The path happens to be extended past Scribner Rd. it isn’t officially open yet but i really couldn’t resist and rode it anyhow. One . 5 kilometers of brand name brand new asphalt. By the end there was an eight base chain that is tall fence, therefore I back tracked to Scribner. You could conceivably get across the fence but and drive the still-closed, gravel path.

In the now paved Scribner Rd., I rode as much as the Spokane-Cheney highway.( Roughly 500 yards.)

Then rode the good wide neck about a mile and a half up a small grade to South Meyers Park Rd. You will find brown indications showing the Fish Lake trailhead towards the left.

Sweet restrooms and a lot of free parking. Then rode the gorgeous 3.75 kilometers into Cheney. There have been turtles that are many when you look at the babbling brook operating down both edges of this path. It is an extremely small uphill grade through stones and woodland. The smells were intoxicating.

Turned right where in actuality the asphalt ends and went a half mile into city. There isn’t much here into the real method of drink and food but you can damp their whistle and relax ahead of the return trip. We hit the mini-mart of a half mile down First St. for many fast power snacks and rode back once again to the shady work work bench and kiosk in the path to take pleasure from them in tranquility.

Spring ’13-b

Chose to decide to try the Marshall to Spokane Memorial Park area of the path. Good section of the trail, paved, but don’t like the cyclists that are»road whom ride in packages often 3 abreast & force walkers from the region of the trail & glance at walkers like they don’t really belong from the path. Luckily only encountered one set of about a dozen. All solitary cyclists had been quite courteous.

Fish Lake Revisited

Fish Lake Revisited

Just what a noticeable vary from final period. Then it absolutely was all construction and gravel and confusion during the north end. Bad TrailBear was wandering about, shopping for the path. No path can be found. He could not think it is at Fish Lake ( maybe maybe not here yet) in which he could not believe it is in the north end. There have been some bits at the center, under construction.

Today, between rainfall showers, he got in a trip. Also had sunlight.

You can now now drive about 7.3 kilometers of exemplary blacktop from the trailhead that is new Spokane – where in actuality the tracks cross overhead – right down to Marshall where in fact the path presently finishes in which the S. Scribner Rd. crosses the proper of method.

The path is really an incline that is gentle to Marshall, where it concludes at an information kiosk on Scribner Rd. Ahead will be the NO NO signs and also the locked right of method ultimately causing Fish Lake Trailhead. That is for Stage III. Go as much as the Cheney Rd and employ the shoulders that are wide get right down to Fish Lake and connect with the Columbia Plateau Trail and points south.

Fish Lake is a great trip. The path is scheduled on top of the part of this valley with good views and lined with pines. Active RR lines above and below keep things stimulating. Periodic benches are observed in the 1st four kilometers. The older pavement in Marshall is showing transverse cracks.

It appeared as if there clearly was some after finishing up work action. As TB headed right back, there have been more riders coming right down to Marshall.
